1. Mila moved to a new daycare this past month and....we love her new daycare! There was a little bumps in terms of transition (she got sick the second week and - did the crying at drop off during the second week) but she has settled in and I am much more relaxed about daycare.
Here is a perk to her new daycare (not that I require this in a daycare.....as I said...it's a perk), her teachers Ashley and Sherlynn (aka Bo Bo) like to do girls' hair so.....each day when I pick her up she has a new, very cute and often quite elaborate, hairstyle. Like I said, not required to make me happy but it is really, really nice when you have a child with lots of wild hair who pulls her ponies out to have a fresh hair do when you pick her up :).
Here is a picture from their field trip to Hatch's Chocolate Store.
They do lots of walks in the community.

2. Mila has started singing this past month. She has talked for awhile but this past month is the first time I have heard her sing. Her favorites are ABCs, Tiny Turtle, Itsy Bitsy Spider and Twinkle Twinkle. You can't always understand what she's saying but she sort of sings the "gist" of the song.
3. Mila is potty training....learning how to go pee pee and poo poo in the potty :). She's doing pretty well.....still a long way from full potty training and still has lots of "poop" accidents.
Look at how long her hair is when it's wet.
4. Truth be told, this past month has been pretty challenging. Mila was sick for almost two weeks and I didn't realize it was an ear infection. She had a fever one day for 24 hours but was fine the next day. The only symptom was that she was getting up 2-4 times a night and I thought it was somehow related to her transition at daycare....like maybe she was having bad dreams or something. She never tugs at her ears or has any other "typical" ear infection symptoms. At my wits end, I took her to the doctor and she was diagnosed with an ear infection/possible sinus infection. After 7 days on an antibiotic we went to her ENT PA who took out her ear tubes that were sitting in the ear canal (no longer functional). I think they may have been irritating her which may have also led to an increase in fussiness.
Illness aside - Mila has just been challenging in terms of wanting to do things for herself (e.g., dress herself), not being able to do it but then crying/tantrumming when I help her. Crying/mini-tantrums have been happening quite a bit at our house and mama's pretty tired of it. I have friends who do not believe in the "terrible 2's" and I don't know what this phase is but....it's not so fun on some days. I know her "willful" personality will be a strength in the long run but right now it's not so fun .
No matter what, I still believe in the Army motto of "it's the toughest job you'll ever love." Being her mother has been the most humbling thing I have ever done....it's really, really good for me and I hope I am doing a good job....particularly during the rough times.

She is getting so big and more beautiful each day. Love the hair doos!!
ReplyDeleteTrust me, "terrible two's" do exhist. Janie is in it right now. Luckily, when she gets upset or frustrated, we see some yucky defiant behavior but then it quickly goes away...mostly Janie's biggest "2" behavior is "mine". Everything is "mine". My toy, my book, etc....always taking stuff from her little sister with a loud "Mine"

ReplyDeleteShe is really growing up fast! Love the hairstyles from daycare! What a little sweetheart (infused with some stinker!).
ReplyDeleteHard to believe that is just a yr. Anna will be this fun age!! Of course I am loving her age/ stage right now. SHe has already started throwing herself on the floor! Fun, Fun! She is soo cute!! Glad her new daycare is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteYou are an amazing mom to an incredibly adorable little girl.
ReplyDeleteOh my how she has grown! And SOOOOO beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIsn't independence wonderful??? Just remember, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" You are a great mom and Mila is testing her new freedoms and independence. I wish I could say she will soon be through this, but in reality the focus just changes. I think kids always want to test the limits and know that you will be there for her. Now that I am gearing up for the pre-teen phase, I have forgotten many of the difficult 2-4 year old stuff. Does that just mean that I have Alzheimer's?? maybe/probably--
I know that you will get through this and look back and laugh at her many antics. Hang in there. Glad daycare is going better too. We miss you guys.
