Mila's 22 Months Old!

My spunky toddler is 22 months old....almost the big 2. Yikes! Here are some updates for this month:

1. Mila started gymnastics this month. She calls it "nastics." She seems to like it.....mostly the running around and playing.

2. Mila's comfort toy has expanded beyond her little bear to include, a monkey (she says "mommy"), a dog and a the pig from "If you give a pig a pancake." Each morning, she tries to carry them all out of her crib along with her blanket. She gets upset if she can't carry them all. It's sort of funny to watch.

3. Mila's hunger strike seems to have past. She's been eating a lot better this past month and her favorites still include anything with beans and chicken pot pie. She also likes most berries.
4. Mila's hair is getting really long. Her teacher Isabel likes to do her hair so I Mila has a brush and hair products at daycare and comes home with a different hair do almost every day.
5. Mila continues to eat many things she shouldn't.......soap, bubbbles, dirt, lotion, etc. Silly girl.

5. Mila has become a movie/show freak! She loves her little 20 min shows with her favorite being "Yo Gabba Gabba" and "Veggie Tales." This past month she was nonstop asking for "shows," bringing me the DVDs to request another show, etc. so I had to do a little intervention. I put all the movies away and put out two for each day.....when she's watched them - she's done.....and can't bring me 5 or 6 more begging to watch.

6. Mila is very busy and has been getting into everything lately. That's why, having her watch a show allows me some free time to get ready in the AM and know she'll not be getting into something she shouldn't. I was sort of dreading our trip to San Diego...new environment, new things to get into, etc. I have decided, it's actually easier when we travel. She loves all the stimulation.....airports, beach, parade, new sights, etc. She didn't ask for a "show" once so we had a week with no DVDs (except on the plane). Guess we need to vacation more often:)

7. One of my New Year's resolutions is to try not to complain about/accept Mila's early wake-up time and short naps.....we'll see how it goes. Truth be told, she does sleep 11 1/2 to 12 1/2 hours per night - straight through and never wakes up unless she's sick. For that I am truly thankful. She has also been waking up between 6:30 and 7:00 v. 5:30 or 6 am which is manageable.....I just need to go to bed earlier (I like to stay up until midnight). I have colleagues whose kids are 3 & 4 and still don't sleep through the night so I need to be thankful for my good sleeper and change my expectation that she should sleep in:). I am sure she'll do plenty of sleeping in when she's a teenager....right about when she'll need to get up really early for school.

8. One of Mila's biggest developments this month is being able to blow bubbles by herself. She LOVES bubbles but always needs me to blow them for her. She is very excited to blow her own bubbles and -when we go to the windy beach, she likes seeing them fly in the wind.

Still loving this age and loving my pug. Even though she is challenging at times (her two favorites words now are "mine" and "no"), I still find this age to be so fun and reinforcing!

  2. Oh Kamea has been SO much like number 7 for the last few weeks! She goes to bed arond 6:30 but wakes up at 6:30-7:00...takes a short morning nap and then doesn't want to take an afternoon nap. It is very hard but Garrett and I stay up until midnight too. There are too many things to get done. But we are grateful she sleeps through the night.
Thanks for the clothes! I LOVED the cute jackets, especially the brown one. She has already wore some. I am sure you notice that in all her pictures she is usually always wearing something of Mila's :)

  3. Does Mila sleep in those Halo sleep sacks? If so, Kamea does too!
