Mila's 15 Months

I know I sound like a broken record but I LOVE this age! I guess I love the toddler age. I love watching her personality come out and - even when she's being noncompliant/naughty, it's sort of funny to see what she tries to get away with (for now:). Here are a few updates:

- Mila likes to be sung to quite a bit and loves music in general. She knows the motions to "Wheels on the Bus" (the horn going "beep, beep, beep" is her favorite) and "Itsy, Bitsy, Spider." In the car, when a song comes on the radio that she likes, she bobs her head up and down and will also move her arms to the music.

- According to my home scale, Mila is 20.5 lbs (we'll know for sure this next week at her well visit with the pediatrician) -so - she's turned around in her car seat and seems to enjoy facing forward. It is really nice to interact with her more but I also think it's more dangerous as I am often picking up things she drops or turn to see what cute things she's doing.

-Mila is wearing 12-18 Month clothes but mostly fits into 18 months. Her feet on the other hand, are tiny and she wears 6-12 month size. I am curious to see where she falls in terms of height at this next check-up. She's always been at the 50th percentile but she seems like she's grown quite a bit. I keep having to move things up higher and higher each week on shelves, etc.

- Being outside is Mila's favorite thing. After I pick her up from daycare, we head home and play outside for 1.5 to 2 hours before dinner. She loves her swing and loves being pushed high into the air....it makes her giggle. She also likes it when I "accidentally" bump into her and say "oops."

-One of the many things Mila likes to do when we're outside is to help me garden (aka - play in the dirt). If I am weeding, I'll put the weeds by her and she'll put them in the trash.....that keeps her busy. She likes to pick my annual flowers and vegetable/fruit plants and I am trying to teach her the difference. After awhile, she'll also put dirt, grass, or plants in her mouth.

While we are outside after work, we also take a tour of the neighborhood dogs including a visit to Tara, Ivy, and Tucker. Mila LOVES dogs! She signs dog every time she sees or hears one. She will even put down her sippy cup or whatever else is in her hands to sign dog. I am thankful that all 3 of my neighbors have dogs so she can enjoy them and I don't have to have my own dog with more poop to clean up:)

Mila's bummed because Tara isn't out in the yard on this day

Ivy (the great Dane across the street) is out. She is so big Mila could ride her.
Another things Mila likes to do when we are out is ride in and push her Little Tykes car. We head down the street to the local elementary school and guess what?

Yep, the elementary school has stairs which Mila loves and works on mastering both going up (easy for her) and going down (not quite fluent yet....still needs help/sometimes falls)

-Mila now independently goes to her book shelf, takes books off, and looks at them. Yes, this is a neat thing but she also ends up with half of her books all over the floor. All in the name of early literacy:) At daycare when I drop her off, after I put her snack & sippy cup away, I peek in the window to see what she's doing. The majority of the time she has gotten a book off the shelf and is looking through it. I read to her almost every night in English and Spanish (Yes- there are chaotic nights where that does not happen).....I hope she likes to read. I was never a big reader as a kid and never remember my mom reading to me. I was kid #3 of 4 so I doubt she even had time as a single mom.

-Taking pictures of a 15 month old is tough! Especially a busy one like mine. She has discovered the lens cap to my camera and wants to put it on constantly as I am taking pictures.

Silly girl....lens cap in hand
Mila now works very hard to get out any bow I put in her hair. Pony tails are also in for a short time. She may just have wild hair for awhile.

See what happens when I try to get her to keep the bow in? Not worth it:)

I love this age because each day brings new surprises/developments. To be honest, I knew I wanted to be a mother but never knew how deep a love I would feel for such a small person. No matter what's going on in my life or hers, I know she's the best thing that's ever happened to me and each day is a gift.

When I was younger, we would always change the lyrics to songs to be funny. There is a cheesy song on the radio now by Ke$ha called "Your Love is My Drug" and I say...."My pug, my pug, my pug is my drug." She's still stuffy you know and will always be my pug even if she's not.
