Mila's 13 Months Old!

Mila turned 13 months old on Sunday! Hard to believe as it seems like we just celebrated her 1 year birthday. Here are the updates for this month:

1. Mila is walking up a storm and is able to go from sitting to walking with no hands! I thought this was a big feat for a little girl! She keeps me on my toes and is constantly into everything. I love this age so much and I am also getting my exercise chasing after her/keeping her out of things/trying to keep her safe.

2. Mila loves to dance! She hears music and will just spontaneously start moving back and forth if she is sitting, or even start moving her feet up and down with her legs if she is standing. I think I need to get the girl into some dance classes.

3. We are done with bottles! Hooray! (I guess). She easily transitioned to sippy cups but as Tiffany says, I am not too sure how much different they are than bottles. She no longer takes a sippy in the AM, will have them at meals, before naps and before bed. Over time we'll need to decrease this but for now....I do think they are easier to manage then bottles.

4. Mila LOVES to play outside! As she is transitioning to the toddler room, they have been taking her outside every day and she cries when she has to come in. I pick her up around 4 pm and we play outside until dinner (weather permitting). She hates coming back inside. She loves the swing that she got for her birthday and walks over to it every day and waits to be put in.

5. Mila's new favorite food is olives......she loves them! She wants to eat them whole but I cut them up for her as otherwise she chokes on them. She loves when I put the whole ones on her fingers for her to eat.

Often, when you wish and hope for something for so long.......when you put all your dreams, thoughts and wishes into something you are disappointed when you get it (i.e., is this what I really wanted? Now I got this and I am still not happy!). I hoped and dreamed for Mila for so, so long and although we still have tough days.....there is not a day that goes by that I am not grateful to be her mama, that I have her, and that we are a family. Sometimes dreams really do come true and sometimes.....sometimes.....things are even better than you dreamed, imagined, and hoped for! I love you Mila!

  1. We're done with bottles too...just using the sippy bottle, which I still call a bottle? A curious thing, but more socially acceptable?
