First, I have been out of the posting loop due to daycare transitions and Mila's chronic ear infections. I am hoping to get back to posting on a regular basis but- as a single mom....I try to remain flexible with what life throws my way.
I have received some great questions/e-mails from single adoptive moms that have read the blog. Thanks for these and feel free to keep e-mailing/sending topics. I want this website to be a resource for you all. The one question that keeps coming up is - how do you decide to have more children? So- after receiving a recent e-mail from a single adoptive mom- I wanted post her questions for you all the answer:
1. When and how you decided to adopt number 2 or 3 or 4+?
2. What has been your experience with multiple adoptions?
3. What was the age separation of siblings?
4. How many would jump at the chance to adopt another baby from the same birthmother?
Please post comments or you can e-mail me your responses too. My e-mail address is under "my profile."
People always ask me whether I will adopt another little one and all I can say is.....I am in the throws of taking care of child #1 - I am not ready to make those decisions at this point. As I said in a previous post, if I had a husband, more money/support I would love to have big family as I love being a mom.
After adopting Charlee, I didn't think I would adopt again. It was just to emotional and the 2 1/2 year wait was horrible. Then one day, a seed was planted about a sibling for Charlee...months later Natalee was born. I can't image life without Natalee. Now another seed is planted....
ReplyDeleteIf Natalee's BM asked me to parent another child I would JUMP at the chance. I would not have to give it a second thought. This would be my dream to have a 1/2 or full sibling of Natalee's.
I have the financial means (of course this means a different lifestyle and less fancy stuff), a large enough house (who wants to clean a bigger house. The kids will have to share rooms) and I have more than enough love to give another child.
My big question is when? Charlee and Natalee are 3 years and 3 weeks apart in age. This has been perfect. I don't think I want to wait until Natalee is 3 years old. So when????
I know for sure that I'm not ready by June 2010 to make the current deadline to finalize the adoption before the Federal Adoption Tax Credit ends (unless it is passed by Congress to renew). This does make financing a third adoption more challenging.
A comment I read on someones blog that I just love is..."Full hands is a full heart"
